TL;DR โ
Receipt stores all data locally on your device only. We collect nothing. We send nothing to any server. No account required. Free forever.
1. Information We Collect
Receipt does not collect, transmit, or store any personal information on external servers.
The following data is recorded locally on your device only, using Chrome's chrome.storage.local API:
Domain names of websites you visit (e.g. "youtube.com") โ not full URLs
Time spent on each domain per day
Your daily streak count and usage goal settings
Your Focus Mode block list configuration
Your language and theme preferences
2. Information We Do Not Collect
No personal identifiers โ no name, email, or account
No page content, form inputs, passwords, or full URLs
No cookies or third-party analytics
No data is ever transmitted to any server
No data is ever shared with or sold to third parties
3. Permissions Explained
tabs โ Detect tab switches to measure time spent per site
storage โ Save usage statistics locally on your device
notifications โ Alert you when a time limit is reached or Focus Mode ends
idle โ Pause tracking when you step away from your computer
alarms โ Schedule Focus Mode auto-end and weekly report notifications
activeTab โ Read the current tab's domain for time tracking
Content script (all sites) โ Run on all pages to track visit duration and show the block screen when Focus Mode is active. No page content is read or transmitted.
4. Data Storage & Deletion
All data lives in chrome.storage.local on your device. You can delete everything at any time: open the extension โ Settings โ Clear Data. Uninstalling the extension also removes all stored data.
5. Share Receipt Feature
The "Share Receipt" feature generates an image of your usage stats on-device and copies it to your clipboard. You decide where to share it. We never receive or store shared images.
6. Children's Privacy
Receipt is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as the extension evolves. Changes will be posted at this URL. The "Last updated" date at the top will reflect the latest revision.
